Press Release on IGP’s Statement On The Sex Video Case

Posted: 01 Apr 2011 07:28 AM PDT

PRESS RELEASE

Today the Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar rushed to make a statement that the ‘ Datuk T ‘ sex video is allegedly authentic. This announcement in no way proves that Opposition leader Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim is the person appearing in the sex video. From the very first instance, Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim has stated categorically and unambiguously that he is not the person in the sex video. The issue of the authenticity of the video is a red herring, and a politically motivated attempt at confusing the issue so as to smear and tarnish Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s reputation.

What is of real public concern is why the police and A-G’s Chambers have yet to institute criminal proceedings against the three persons who have publicly confessed to being guilty of possessing and publicly exhibiting the obscene video which are offences under s.292 Penal Code and s.5 Film Censorship Act 2002. Why the special treatment meted out to these particular offenders? Unusually, the IGP made his announcement on the aspect of the authenticity of the video despite admitting also that the probe on the sex video is not yet complete. We call upon the IGP not to dance to the tune of the BN and to carry out police investigations fairly, impartially and professionally. We call upon the IGP and AG to stop the delaying tactics and to take action against the real criminals in the sex video fiasco immediately.

Gila, Serangan Asid terhadap penduduk Kuala Lumpur, AWAS

Posted: 01 Apr 2011 12:39 AM PDT

*****************

Exclusive: Acid victims no. 13, 14 Foreigner and friend become the latest targets in spate of 'splash-and-run' attacks in KL the past month

Friday, April 1st, 2011 12:47:00

KUALA LUMPUR: A Frenchman and his female companion became the 13th and 14th victims of a corrosive liquid-splashing attack by a motorcycle duo in the latest incident in Jalan Conlay about 3pm last Saturday. KL City CID chief Datuk Ku Chin Wah, when contacted by The Malay Mail yesterday, confi rmed the incident. The French couple suffered skin irritation believed to have been caused by a caustic chemical." He, however, declined to elaborate. This brings the number of victims in the city splashed with 'burning liquids' to 14 over the past month -- eight pupils and a teacher in Bangsar on March 2 afternoon; two marketing executives in Jalan Tun Sambanthan, Brickfields on March 24 evening; and a teacher in Jalan Sultan Abdul Samad, also in Brickfi elds, on March 25 morning.

Police however, remain frustrated that no one has stepped forward to volunteer any information on the suspects, despite appeals. The Malay Mail was alerted of the latest incident by a reader who witnessed the attack. Police sources said a motorcyclist with a pillion rider approached the couple from behind and threw a caustic chemical which hit the woman on the face before fl eeing the scene. In a statement, the French Embassy in Kuala Lumpur said: "We confirm the incident involving a French national.

We are not in the position to communicate his identity and contacts. We are closely monitoring the situation." An embassy representative lodged a police report at 5pm on the day of the incident. Meanwhile, police are waiting for Ruhainah Husin and Magfirah Zakaria to provide a more detailed description of the suspects. Both Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) marketing executives were splashed with liquid about 5.30pm last Thursday while walking towards their car parked in Jalan Scott, off Jalan Tun Sambanthan. Magfirah saw a motorcyclist momentarily stopping behind Ruhinah before the pillion rider splashed them with liquid from a bottle.

Ruhinah suffered burns on the left side of her face while her colleague sustained burns from the splashed liquid. Ruhinah's husband, Wan Mohd Nafizul, 30, when contacted yesterday, said his wife was still recovering at the University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC). "Police are waiting for Ruhainah to recover to get a more detailed description of the suspects," he said, adding police also wanted to talk to Magfirah.

Last Friday at 7am, a 25-year-old history teacher with SMK Vivekananda in Brickfields suffered discomfort in her eyes and burns on her breasts after being splashed with liquid also by two men on a motorcycle which approached her from behind just as she was passing SRJK (Tamil) Vivekananda in Jalan Sultan Abdul Samad on her way to her school nearby. On March 2 at 4.45pm, eight primary pupils and a teacher of SK Bukit Bandaraya in Bangsar were splashed with a liquid believed to be thinner by a motorcyclist in black.

All suffered burning sensations on their faces, arms and bodies, and were taken to UMMC for treatment. Police initially believed the attack was an isolated one by an unsound individual, but with subsequent cases, there was a growing suspicion that they were connected, including the possibility of copycats being involved. None has come forward with information on recent spate of splash-and-run attacks

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are still without information from witnesses on the acid-splashing incidents that have shocked Brickfields and Bangsar over the past month. To date, 14 people have been injuried by such attacks by motorcyclists, including the latest on a French couple in Jalan Conlay last Saturday. Brickfields district police chief ACP Wan Abdul Bari Wan Abdul Khalid said police needed clues to act on, and again urged the public, especially Brickfields residents, to cooperate with them. "Despite the media coverage on the incidents, we have yet to receive even a phone call from anyone. Two of the incidents occurred during rush hour in Brickfields.

"We are sure some people would have seen something. "We have a task force to handle the cases but we need information to work on." He urged the public to alert police if they noticed suspicious-looking individuals loitering in their neighbourhood. Brickfields Rukun Tetangga chief S.S.K. Naidu said the relocation of the district police headquarters (IPD) from Brickfields to Sri Petaling could be a reason for such incidents. Palm Court condominium chairman S. Nookaraju said that when Brickfields previously had an IPD, there were more police mobile patrol vehicles (MPVs) making their rounds.

"The IPD was at a strategic location in Brickfields. It discouraged criminals from entering." Both Naidu and Nookaraju felt that with rapid development, traffic problems and the Little India project, relocating the police headquarters to Sri Petaling was not the best move. "Police should have looked for another site in Brickfields instead of relocating elsewhere," said Naidu. Last week, two mysterious motorcycling acid-splashers injured three women in Jalan Tun Sambanthan and Jalan Sultan Abdul Samad. The duo had dark complexion and were in dark-coloured shirts.

They were on a Honda EX5 motorcycle with the corrosive liquid in the goods basket. On March 24, two marketing executives were splashed with liquid while walking along Jalan Tun Sambanthan at 5.30pm. They said they only noticed the two men on a motorcycle after they were splashed with the substance, believed to be acid. They suffered facial burns. On day later, a teacher walking to SMK Vivekananda in Jalan Sultan Abdul Samad at 7am suffered discomfort in her eyes and burns on her chest. She told police she also saw two men on a motorcycle speeding past her after she was attacked from behind.

On March 2, eight primary pupils and a teacher of SK Bukit Bandaraya in Bangsar screamed in pain after being splashed with a liquid believed to be thinner by a motorcyclist in black clothing. The nine victims suffered burns on their faces, arms and bodies and were taken to the University Malaya Medical Centre for treatment. Six days later, two men were held on suspicion of splashing thinner on the pupils and the teacher and were released on police bail. http://www.mmail.com.my/content/68269-exclusive-acid-victims-no-13-14

PM tak kisah 20,000 penduduk Pahang tak ada air?

Posted: 31 Mar 2011 05:51 PM PDT

Housing estate without water supply for a week

ABOUT 10,000 families living in the Taman Bukit Bendera housing estate in Mentakab have been without water supply for the past week, reported Makkal Osai. The Temerloh district Water Department has been blamed for the problem.

In a recent meeting, Lanchang state assemblyman Datuk Mohd Sharkar Samsuddin and the residents, community leaders, political party leaders and others took the department's officers to task over the matter.

Mohd Sharkar urged the department to arrange lorries to supply water to the affected residents. He added that the business community in the area had suffered more than RM1mil in losses. Mohd Sharkar said it was surprising that the department had failed to take the necessary action to supply water to the residents for a week.

BAU BUSUK DI TAMAN INDAH SERENDAH

Posted: 31 Mar 2011 10:56 PM PDT
